THROUGH THE EYES OF A JEWISH EXPLORER, IRENE SHALAND.
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2022 AT 7 PM
The Sisterhood of Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield invites you to a special virtual
discussion of Jewish Africa by Irene and Alex Shaland. For 35 years they have
shared apassion for travel as a form of Knowledge-sharing. They focus on holistic
approach to travel and are dedicated to popularizing independent tourism-
with-a-higher-purpose through writing, public lecturing and photography.
They rely on their first-hand personal experience to deliver
comprehensive, scholarly, and entertaining content for audiences.
As a writer focused on Jewish communities around the world, Irene
Shaland presents her personal Jewish stories she discovered in Africa.
This mysterious continent remains one of the most enchanting and
fascinating destinations for both Irene and her husband, Alex. From the
Nairobi Synagogue and its energetic community, to Masai Tribe village with
their Old Testament-like legends, from the Great Rift Valley, where life on
earth began, to the Great Migration in Kenya and Tanzania, Africa presents
itself as a never-ending journey of mystery and discovery.
Through photographs and stories, Alex and Irene will share their amazing
experience from Africa by taking the audience on a unique journey through
Masai Mara. Amboseli, Ngorongoro Crater, and Serengeti Parks.
The program will begin at 7 PM on Sunday, Evening November 13 and is
expected to end by 8:30 PM with time for questions the audience may
have.
There is no cost to Temple Emmanuel and Sisterhood members. A
suggested donation of $10 would be appreciated for visitors. Registration

required.
