Welcome to Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield’s CHAI School for 2026-2027! Our new hours for all students are Tuesdays from 4 PM to 5:30 PM, starting September 15th, 2026. Temple Emmanuel’s CHAI School offers a warm, stimulating, and energetic classroom environment where children can engage meaningfully with their Jewish identity, regardless of their level of observance, affiliation, or prior knowledge. We welcome all learners and encourage everyone to participate in our community. Our classes are large enough for engaging group activities, and sufficiently small to provide individual attention. With the involvement of Temple Emmanuel’s Rabbi Micah Becker-Klein and classes led by experienced Jewish educators, we are excited to offer the following classes from September 2026 through May 2027:
· K – 3rd Grades (ages 5-8) / 4 to 5:30 p.m. (Tuesdays): For students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education or just getting started. We will focus on introducing students to basic Jewish prayers, learning the Hebrew alphabet, and studying the Torah and Jewish Holidays with multi-sensory themed, creative activities. There will be a mixed-age group tefillah (prayer) session that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.
· 4th – 6th Grades (ages 8-12) / 4 to 5:30 p.m. (Tuesdays): For students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education and are interested in becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We will offer an innovative curriculum of Jewish history and culture, with Hebrew instruction focusing on Torah study, singing tefillot and other Jewish songs. There will be a mixed-age group, tefillah (prayer) session, that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.
