Hebrew School Registration

Welcome to the 2025/2026 Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield’s new Hebrew School year — the CHAI School. Temple Emmanuel’s CHAI School offers an engaging, stimulating and energetic classroom environment where children can embrace their Jewish roots, regardless of their level of observance, affiliation, or prior knowledge; we welcome all learners. Our classes are large enough for engaging group activities, and sufficiently small to provide excellent individual attention. With the involvement of Temple Emmanuel’s Rabbi and classes led by experienced Jewish educator Brenda Dolan, we are excited to offer the following classes each week from September 2025 through May 2026:
 
· K – 3rd Grades (ages 5-8) / 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.: Tuesday afternoon for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education or just getting started. We will focus on introducing students to basic Jewish prayers, learning the Hebrew language through English and Hebrew songs, and studying the Torah and Jewish Holidays with multi-sensory themed, creative activities. There will be a mixed-age group tefillah (prayer) session that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.

· 4th – 6th Grades (ages 8-12) / 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.: Tuesday afternoon for students who are building upon their foundational Jewish education and are interested in becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah. We will offer an innovative curriculum of Hebrew instruction focusing on Torah study and discussion, and of course, singing tefillot and other Jewish songs. There will be a mixed-age group, tefillah (prayer) session, that overlaps with the other Tuesday class.

· Bar/Bat Mitzvah Age: Students ages 12-13 are encouraged to attend a second class each week with Temple Emmanuel’s Rabbi to focus on Bar and Bat Mitzvah preparation, including learning to read from the Torah.

Tuition is $820 for members and $1225 for non-members. We offer a 5% sibling discount per child if you are registering multiple children. Please note that half the balance is due by the 1st day of school and the remainder is due January 1st, 2026. Request that payment be made by check, payable to Temple Emmanuel CHAI school, and please add the student names on the check.
 
There is a lounge/coworking space available on site for parents and caregivers who want to stay and work or socialize, with wifi and coffee.
