The group Women in World Jazz features world music\ncomposed by women composers and lyricists past and present. From USA Blues and Jazz styles\,\nthe group ventures to Latin America\, Asia\, Africa and the Middle East to celebrate the\ndiversity and power of creativity. \nWomen In World Jazz brings together women of different nationalities with extensive\nexperience in performance and education. Held at Most Blessed Sacrament in Wakefield\, the Community Dinners happen the 2nd Wednesday of every month\, with the opportunity to feed 80+ neighbors and friends from Wakefield\, Stoneham\, Melrose and towns as far as Medford\, Salem and Norwood. Volunteer hours are 3:30-6:30pm. Guests come as families or alone. Although many are experiencing food insecurity\, most are impacted with social isolation. We provide a hot meal\, salad\, bread\, desserts\, and most importantly\, camaraderie. If you’d like to have fun\, share smiles\, and engage in holy work with Rabbi Greg\, please sign up here.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, February 2\, Temple Emmanuel will welcome Paul Cancelliere and the Wakefield Veterans Advisory Board to lead the annual “Four Chaplains” memorial service.  This event honors the Four Chaplains\, including Rabbi Alexander D. Goode\, who died rescuing civilian and military personnel as the American troop ship SS Dorchester sank on February 3\, 1943.  There is a memorial monument in front of the synagogue\, one of several in the country\, that commemorates the ultimate sacrifices made by these men of different faiths.  The service begins at 9:00 AM\, and it is open to the public.
