Take a break with a relaxing\, meditative\, easy to learn drawing practice. No prior art experience required. You will need paper\, a pencil\, and a thin pen (felt tip\, thin Sharpie\, Micron\, or something that writes nicely). A blender/tortillion\, cotton swab\, or rolled paper is helpful for shading. “Anything is possible — one stroke at a time.” Michael’s and Amazon have the Micron. You can get a set of 3 for less than $10\, but just getting the number 1 micron and maybe a 5 will be enough. \nFree to Sisterhood and Temple member and their families. It won awards at the Berlin and Vancouver film festivals among others. \nSchlomo\, an Ethiopian boy\, is placed by his Christian mother with an Ethiopian Jewish woman whose child has died. This woman\, who will become his adoptive mother\, is about to be airlifted from a Sudanese refugee camp to Israel during Operation Moses in 1984. His birth mother\, who hopes for a better life for him\, tells him “Go\, live\, and become\,” as he leaves her to get on the bus. One tragic morning in 1994\, everything changes when Anita is left alone\, confused and helpless after the nearby Argentine Israelite Mutual Association is bombed (the deadliest bombing in Argentina’s history). As Anita wanders through the city\, she learns not only to care for herself\, but touches the lives of those around her\, from an alcoholic to a family of Asian immigrants. \nAnita is the latest from renowned filmmaker Marcos Carnevale\, director of “Elsa and Fred”. DESCRIPTION:Meet Amy Rosenstein Lassman of ADAR DESIGN \nAmy founded ADAR DESIGN in 2012 with her love of creating meaningful pieces from exquisite textiles with a focus on artistic exploration on Judaica textiles. She will bring a collection of talitot for women and men and discuss the inspiration for the designs. Amy will also explain her process of creating a garment that represents an individual’s relationship with their faith and practice\, exploring the connection of family\, fabrics\, ancient texts and contemporary aesthetics. She will share stories of families and the lessons she has learned from her sessions working with them. Amy also designs kippot that range from classic tweeds to whimsical beads and feathers. In addition\, ADAR DSIGN custom work includes wedding canopies\, Torah covers\, as well as covers for challah and matzah. \nThere is no charge. There is a chair lift to the second floor social hall.
