SUMMARY:Volunteer at Wakefield Community Dinners
DESCRIPTION:Mitzvah opportunity! Temple Emmanuel is now partnered with Wakefield Community Dinners. Held at Most Blessed Sacrament in Wakefield\, the Community Dinners happen the 2nd Wednesday of every month\, with the opportunity to feed 80+ neighbors and friends from Wakefield\, Stoneham\, Melrose and towns as far as Medford\, Salem and Norwood. Volunteer hours are 3:30-6:30pm. Guests come as families or alone. Although many are experiencing food insecurity\, most are impacted with social isolation. We provide a hot meal\, salad\, bread\, desserts\, and most importantly\, camaraderie. If you’d like to have fun\, share smiles\, and engage in holy work with Rabbi Greg\, please sign up here.

SUMMARY:Adult Education: Jewish American Comedians Course
DESCRIPTION:Two old Jewish men are on the Titanic. One of them starts sobbing\, and the other one says\, “What are you crying for? It’s not your boat!” From Groucho Marx to Jon Stewart\, Jewish American comedians have helped make light of hard situations and they’ve had a huge impact on our culture. This 3-session course will chart the history and notable personalities who created the genre of Jewish Humor. Our virtual (Zoom only) classes will meet at 7:30 PM on Wednesday nights in November – 11/6\, 11/13\, and 11/20. All are welcome to attend one session or all three!
