SUMMARY:Phone Bank on MA Ballot Question 3
DESCRIPTION:Join us on October 28 at Temple Shir Tikvah\, 34 Vine St Winchester MA at a phone bank urging voters to vote YES on Massachusetts Ballot Question 3 to protect transgender rights in Massachusetts. \nTwo years ago\, transgender equality was written into the law in Massachusetts. That victory meant that transgender people in Massachusetts can go about their daily lives knowing that they can’t lawfully be turned from any public spaces. However\, a statewide ballot question in November aims at repealing those protections. Temple Shir Tikvah is joining a broad coalition led by the Freedom for All Massachusetts campaign that includes more than 350 clergy\, faith leaders\, and congregations across the state that commits vote YES on 3 to uphold transgender rights. \nSponsored by Temple Emmanuel of Wakefield\, Shir Tikvah of Winchester and Temple Beth Shalom Melrose.

SUMMARY:Temple Reads
DESCRIPTION:My Mother’s Son by David Hirshberg \nat the home of Palla and Jonathan Berg \n \n  \nThe story is told by a radio raconteur revisiting his past in post-World War II Boston\, the playground and battleground for two brothers whose lives are transformed by discoveries they never could have imagined. From the opening line of the book\, “When you’re a kid\, they don’t always tell you the truth\,” the stage is set for this riveting coming-of-age story that plays out against the backdrop of the Korean War\, the aftermath of the Holocaust\, the polio epidemic\, the relocation of a baseball team\, and the shenanigans of politicians and businessmen. Hirshberg deftly weaves together events\, characters\, and clues and creates a rich tapestry of betrayal\, persecution\, death\, loyalty\, and unconditional love that resonates with today’s America.
