Snow Cancellation Policy PDF Print E-mail

Friday night

With an impending or on-going snowstorm and/or severe winter weather event, the President, 1st Vice President, and Ritual Chair will contact and coordinate with each other to determine if services that evening should be conducted.   Decision should be based on severity of the storm, whether the temple driveway has been plowed, safe access to the building, etc.   A go/no-go decision needs to be made by 2:00 PM that afternoon.

Regardless of the decision, the result shall be provided to the Rabbi and the temple membership as follows:

  1. The President / 1st VP / Ritual Chair contacts the Rabbi first, informing him of whether services are cancelled or not.   This should be done immediately after the 2:00 PM decision deadline.
  2. The Ritual chair will direct contact “core service attendees” by phone of the service decision. He will also post an email advisory to all temple members.
  3. The President / 1st VP asks the Publicity Chair to contact the local Radio/TV stations to post our cancellation.
  4. The President / 1st VP leaves an outgoing voice message on the temple office phone, informing those who call in about the decision.
  5. The President / 1st VP initiates the Sisterhood phone squad, using this phone network to inform membership of the decision.
